When the ground is misty, when it is foggy, it is hard to see. It is hard to make out the details.
In today’s world, there is a bit of fogginess in the church’s attitude toward politics. It is difficult to make generalizations, because there are exceptions to the rule, but it is necessary to point out two very different streams of thought.
Because of these streams, there are different approaches to the same events.
One stream of thought is that prophecy is focused primarily on a spiritual kingdom, the coming of the kingdom of God. Jesus is coming again (which He is) and the focus with this stream is only or primarily on the spiritual aspects of the kingdom…ye must be born again.
Now everyone does need to be born again to enter into the kingdom of God. Being born of the spirit of God is the only way to become God’s child.
Your child may live next door to another family, but you birthed the child, and the child is yours.
So it is with God. Every person born of God must be born of God going through the born again experience.
Your child did not become your child by means of works, but by birth. Now, your child might do things for you as a member of the family…make the bed, take out the trash, help clean the house or yard, but those works do not make the child a member of the family. Those works are the outcome of already being a member of the family.
The child was born into your house.
So it is with the family of God. Each person must individually be born into the family of God.
There is a lot of theological understanding related to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and what He came to do, but certainly one of the things Jesus came to do was to open the door to redemption; Jesus came to make it possible for an individual to reconnect with God through the born again experience.
This is extremely important. It is the most important event to occur in a person’s life on this earth. There is nothing, no amount of fame, fortune, financial blessing, business success, family notarity or anything else that is more important than being born again.
It has been said that God has no grandchildren. What does this mean?
Even if your mother, your father, your immediate relatives are born again, that does not make you part of God’s family by family connection. You must be born again yourself.
A lot of time is being spent on this point as it is the most important thing.
That said, there is a prophetic stream that focuses mainly on this alone, the spiritual kingdom only, the new birth only.
There is another stream of prophetic thought, a historic stream. This stream of thought also believes in the importance of being born again.
In addition, this stream also believes that the righteousness, the blessings, the knowledge, the awareness of the kingdom of heaven should begin to permeate and affect the kingdoms of this earth. In other words, there is an outward focus of bringing the kingdom of heaven outwardly into the kingdoms of this world. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Therefore, those who align more with this stream of thought are concerned about righteous candidates in office, voting, righteous school boards, and things of this earth, as well as the importance of evangelism and being born again.
By understanding these two different streams of thoughts it helps lift the fog.
