This post will tackle a question about how certain atrocities have happened in the church.
Some use historically bad things that have happen in the church as a reason to stay away from church.
In society overall, throughout history, there have been organizations that left their first mission or have been blemished by some kind of an infiltration. For example, Harvard was biblically-based when it began.
Here are some other arenas where there have been problems.
- the pharmaceutical industry
- the military going woke
- education going transgender
- founders of companies being fired from the company they founded
- elected officials ceasing to do the work of the people but another agenda
- stolen elections
You probably know of instances personally where there was a “bait and switch” situation. Things change and not everyone involved in an organization is privy to what causes the change.
A mixture is created when some, usually lower-level, people stay true to the original mission while more corrupt people promote themselves and their friends up the higher echelons of the ladder and operate contrary to the original mission.
Some of that has happened in the Church at large, and in various denominations. The stories are out there if you want to Google them and study them. But bad actors don’t take away from the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even Jesus had his Judas.
It is better use of time and energy, than focusing on the worst history of the past, to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ, be born again, and find your answers in Christ.
A blog post can only introduce a topic but not cover it in depth. For more study on various topics, click here for links to various Christian ministries.
Depending on the ministry, there may be online church services, YouTube videos, podcasts, radio programs, books, teaching, or more. You have to seek out what they have.
