Health and a Wounded Spirit

God is interested in our health.  When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, three things entered the world that were not there before:  sin, sickness, and death.  Mankind’s communion with God was cut off.

The world we currently live in is not the world that God created, but a fallen world.  Jesus came to help mankind return to God and have access to God.  One of the benefits Jesus brought to mankind was the healing power of God.

There are many scriptures in the Bible about healing.  Below are a few.

Proverbs 17:22   A cheerful heart makes good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 18:14   A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness,
but a crushed spirit, who can bear?

Proverbs 16:24   Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Psalm 147:3  He heals the broken in heart,
and binds up their wounds.

Luke 4:16   He [Jesus] came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted,
to proclaim release to the captives,
recovering of sight to the blind,
to deliver those who are crushed,
19 and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

20 He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Isaiah 61:1  The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me,
because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble.
He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to those who are bound,
to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,

Here is an article about the relationship between health and a wounded heart (or wounded spirit).

Here is an interview with a New Zealand doctor.  He talks about and explains the PCR test.  The doctor’s talk begins at 5:29 if you want to go straight to the interview.  It is necessary to understand this kind of information.  More is at shineonhealth.com
