The Importance of the Bible

I Peter 2:2 as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow,

The newborn baby refers to someone who has been born again.

John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 The same came to him by night, and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered him, “Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”

4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Don’t marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.’ 8 The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Psalm 17:4 As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips,
I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.

Asking for Help in the Bible

praying for help

Matthew 7:7  “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or who is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! 12 Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 11:1  When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

2 He said to them, “When you pray, say,

‘Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
Bring us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’”

5 He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’ 7 and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’? 8 I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

9 “I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

Jeremiah 29:13  You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.

Power in the Name of Jesus Bible Verse

Jesus

John 14: 1“Don’t let your heart   be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.4 You know where I go, and you know the way.”

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.12 Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.13 Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.15 If you love me, keep my commandments.16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor,[a]that he may be with you forever:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.18 I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.19 Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.21 One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.25 I have said these things to you while still living with you.26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.28 You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.29 Now I have told you before it happens so that when it happens, you may believe.30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let’s go from here.

What Are Some Scriptures About Prayer?

prayer

Matthew 7:7  “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.9 Or who is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!12 Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 6:5 “When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.7 In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.8 Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.9 Pray like this:

“‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
10 Let your Kingdom come.
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts,
as we also forgive our debtors.
13 Bring us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.15 But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, 16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word[a] of God; 18 with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: 19 on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Daniel 10 :1  In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare. He understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread. No meat or wine came into my mouth. I didn’t anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

4 In the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel, 5 I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a man clothed in linen, whose thighs were adorned with pure gold of Uphaz. 6 His body also was like beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches. His arms and his feet were like burnished bronze. The voice of his words was like the voice of a multitude.

7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves. 8 So I was left alone, and saw this great vision. No strength remained in me; for my face grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet I heard the voice of his words. When I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.

10 Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 He said to me, “Daniel, you greatly beloved man, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for I have been sent to you, now.” When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.

12 Then he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come for your words’ sake. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me because I remained there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days.”

Joshua 22:5  Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Exodus 23:25  You shall serve Yahweh your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.

Deuteronomy 4:29  But from there you shall seek Yahweh your God, and you will find him when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 5: 9  You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them; for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me; 10 and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Proverbs 8:1  Doesn’t wisdom cry out?
Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?
2 On the top of high places by the way,
where the paths meet, she stands.
3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city,
at the entry doors, she cries aloud:
4 “I call to you men!
I send my voice to the sons of mankind.
5 You simple, understand prudence!
You fools, be of an understanding heart!
6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things.
The opening of my lips is for right things.
7 For my mouth speaks truth.
Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness.
There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him who understands,
right to those who find knowledge.
10 Receive my instruction rather than silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 For wisdom is better than rubies.
All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

How Much Am I Supposed To Tithe?

don't just take, give

The question is “how much am I supposed to tithe”?

A tithe is defined as 1/10 of earnings or gifts.  In other words, a tithe of:

$1 is 10 cents

a tithe of $10 is $1

a tithe of $100 is $10

a tithe of $1000 is $100

a tithe of $10,000 is $1000

a tithe of $1 million is $100,000

A tithe of one dime would be one penny.  So a child who earns a dime should tithe a penny.

God is serious about the tithe.  It is not the amount, but the percentage, which is the same for all regardless of level of income.

Malachi 3:7 (KJV) Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

The Earth is the Lord’s

Psalm 24:1  The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

I Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Luke 10:19   Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Psalm 91:13   Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Psalm 115:15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.

16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

So does the earth belong to God or satan?  When there are verses that seem to say two different things.

The answer is reconciled in Christ.

Jesus defeated satan at the cross.  The earth is the Lord’s.  However, where man has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, where the light of the glorious gospel has not shined in the heart, man is still under the reign of the darkness of satan and subject to the influences of the wicked one.

Jesus defeated satan.

I John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus defeated him at the cross and left it to us to enforce that through the authority of the name of Jesus, the power of God, the power of the blood of Jesus and through the weapons which are not carnal, but spiritual, mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Jesus will have all things under his feet, manifested.

And who is to tread on serpents and scorpions according to Psalm 91?  Us.

We are Christ’s ambassadors here on earth.

The heavens are the Lord’s, the earth He has given to the children of men.

If a job is to be done on earth, we are to implement the finished work of Christ, “the Lord working with them, confirming with signs following”.

God is waiting for us.

What is being done in this period of time?  God is bringing many sons to glory.

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?

7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Let’s go more a bit into how Jesus defeated satan,  but then people ask, if that is true, why do we still see sickness and death and problems around us?  They ask, where is God?   They ask, why does God permit it?  Keep reading.

I John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

At this point in time (2022) there have been several shootings where there were authorized people (security, police, etc.)  with guns and the ability to deal with the problem, yet nothing happened.

Why?

The delegated authority was not used.

Authority had been delegated that if a certain situation arose, those who had been authorized and had the badge of authority could deal with it.  But they didn’t.  And tragedy ensued (followed).

So whose fault is that?  If authority is delegated, the responsibility lies with the person(s) who has (have) been given the delegated authority, to do his (their) job, or with those who prevented him (them) from doing his (their) job.

If the scenario above, instead of talking about schools and police or security guards, if that scenario were a scenario talking about humanity and God, people would be blaming God.

We see the concept of delegated authority easier at the human level than when talking about a situtation dealing with the Almighty, but nevertheless, mankind has delegated authority.  God gave it to Adam.  Adam lost it.  Jesus bought it back again with the price of his Life and Blood and offers it again to mankind, to those who believe on him, to his disciples, to his followers.

We understand at the human level that police are delegated authority and that they should use it appropriately.  That’s the whole point of delegated authority.

Yet, through Jesus Christ, authority has been delegated to believers.

And even natural law, such as the Constitution based on natural law, delegates authority through authoritative structures.  There is legitimate delegated authority according to the Constitution.  And the country is supposed to function within delegated authority or the country becomes lawless.

If those in positions of authority and power fail to do what they are supposed to do, what their delegated authority requires them to do, that is not God’s fault.

We can apply this at a natural level.  We can apply this at a spiritual level.

The fault lies with man, not with God.

Where is God with the tragedies of the world?  God is in the heart of believers, God is in the name of Jesus, God is in the power of God, waiting for man to do what the Word of God says so God can fulfill his part of the promise.

The earth is given to mankind.  God is not going to take what he has given.  God is honorable.  God keeps His Word.  The earth has been given to mankind to pray and work towards, “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

Rather than waiting around for Jesus to do what He has given mankind to do, we should ask ourselves, what are my personal sins of omission?  What have I failed to do that I could be doing?

Most believers try to avoid sins of commission…that is, they try to avoid sin.  But this is not just a passive fight.

No football game was won playing defense.

In the spiritual realm, a game of offense is played  by considering what have I omitted to do within the parameters of the Word of God?  We must offensively use the name of Jesus, the Word of God, the blood of Jesus and spiritual weapons.  And, if additionally, there is something God wants in the natural, like attend a school board meeting,  run for office, or home school, or whatever the Holy Spirit wants in obedience, that must be done as well.

We must take the offensive, like in a game of football, not the defense.

A football team that stands around on the field letting the other team run touchdown after touchdown would lose.  And pretty soon it would be dropped from the finals and become irrelevant.

The grace of God gives many gifts from God.  But those gifts must be received.  And they must be implemented to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.

Exodus 20:1  And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
