Call it a flaw, a sin, an iniquity…the point is,  what was one of the main things that has led the U.S. to where it is today?

Let’s first settle one major misconception with common sense.  It was not Putin who caused high gas prices. It was the expansion of the money supply that devalued the worth of each dollar.

Outside of that one point, the purpose of this post is not to focus on anything political; there are natural reasons, but they are secondary.

More than all of these…high prices, war, crime, the invasion at the southern border, murder and more…what is the key reason, a bottom line root reason…why is the U.S. suffering such destruction?

It is not a political reason.

It is because this nation, founded by Christians, for the glory of God, to expand the gospel, has backslid. And, in doing so, it is overall no longer a nation that tithes.  There are other reasons as well; it has broken many laws of God, it has even legislated laws contrary to the Bible.  And while much could be said along those lines, this post will focus on tithing.

Even among professing Christians, few  tithe.

Therefore, simply, God could not rebuke the devourer and the nation came under a curse.

Malachi 3:7 (KJV) Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?

15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.

17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Overall, nationally, has the U.S. obeyed this scripture?  I think it is obvious the answer is “No”.  And while some may give tithes and offerings faithfully, there is a place where there has to be a certain minimum level of obedience and righteousness in order to hold back the judgement of God.  This is indicated in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah below.   Abraham had his countdown before the Lord, but never got to zero.

Genesis 18:1 (KJV) And the Lord appeared unto him [Abraham] in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.

7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.

8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.

24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:

28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

The U.S., with its overall intellectual and historical understanding being very low, does not understand that this nation, raised up by God, is under the same relationship that Israel was in the Old Testament.  The crossing of the Red Sea might have been the national seal.

When Israel sinned, plagues of various types came:  sickness, drought, famine, war, enemies reigning over them.  When Israel repented, God began to bless again.

Like the historical Israel, the only solution is for this nation to turn to God.  However, a nation that celebrates theft, murder, crime, drugs,  transgenderism, proxy wars, fiat money, pedophiles and many more evils may simply have to go through a judgment and purging.

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

People want to argue about the tithe and say it is Old Testament.  Actually, Abraham tithed and that was before Moses and the Law.  It is prior to the Law.   If you really want to know the truth, take an afternoon and seriously study it out yourself.

All I can say and testify is that…God fulfills the promise of the tithe on my behalf.  God is no respector of persons.  God is no respector of persons.  God is no respector of persons.  

I think I would be safe in saying this…anyone who knows the blessing of the tithes and offerings would consider it “nuts’ to not tithe.   I’ll be kind in my use of words.

There is a saying “a  penny wise and a pound foolish“.  That could certainly apply to those who don’t tithe.

Do you realize that not tithing puts you on the wrong side of the ledger against God, on the side of the curse?  …Not a good place to be, in my opinion, but to each his own.

There is a saying that successful people do what unsuccessful people are willing to do.

God has told you what to do and obedience brings success.  It does need to be consistent, ongoing, and forever.  It is an ongoing discipline, not a haphazard, “throw spaghetti at the wall and see if it sticks”.

Those who tithe experience the fulfillment of the promise that those who are unwilling to obey do not.

There is a confusion about the gifts of God.  Some people think that there is no place of obedience in the modern life.

Salvation, being born again, is a gift from God, for the repentant sinner who asks to be born again.  No baby, naturally or spiritually, births itself.

However, growth and the direction of life, both naturally and spiritually, depends on work, discipline, obedience, effort, following instructions…it depends on many things.

Two children from the same household can end up completely different depending on their life choices.  Birth into a family is not the only deciding factor.

High profile sports figures have coaches to improve their game.

Do we think that we can slop around on a couch eating chips and watching Netflix, never reading the Bible, never praying, never tithing, and disobeying and instead just say, I believe in Jesus?

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

When “Jesus did it all” he paid the price for sin, he made a way for repentant sinners to be born again.  However, where Jesus’s work ended, ours began.  We are now to follow Jesus and do what the Lord wants.  Jesus fulfilled the will of the Father.  We are also to fulfill the will of the Father.

If “nothing matters” and “anything goes” and you get the “same results” no matter what, then why did Paul say things like this?

Philippians 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Paul wrote a huge portion of the New Testament.  If anyone had a right to “rest on his laurels“, in other words, sit back and rest due to all the work he had already done, it would have been Paul.

That was not his attitude.

The modern attitude is to complain, “Why, God?”  Rather, there should be an examination of where we have personally and nationally failed, and repent.

I personally have found it profitable, in order to fix some problem, to see if there is something I should be doing, some additional discipline added to what I am already doing, or if there is something I should stop doing.  In theological terms it is called sins of omission or sins of commission.

The Greeks said, “Know thyself.”  The Bible says that if we will judge ourselves, we will not be judged.

We need to examine our lives.  There is always room for improvement.

We can read the Word and get before the Lord in prayer and seek correction.

One of the biggest corrections that this nation needs overall is its attitude to the tithe.  The nation is experiencing the curse.  That should be plain.

If the nation is chastened, it is reaping the results of overall rebellion and inquity.

Hebrews 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
