Putting a Lid on Something

Handle Of A Pot Lid

When you put a lid on something it means that you keep it under control.  The meaning can be negative or positive depending on what is being controlled.

If you are putting a lid on unnecessary expenses, that is a good thing.

If you are putting a lid upon an organization so that it cannot improve, that is a bad thing.

You might say that the stolen election of 2020 put a lid on this nation for the worse.

Root-Cause Thinking Reveals That We Are Only as Strong as Our Weakest Link
“For want of a nail, the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the rider was lost.
For want of a rider, the battle was lost.
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.”

The Bible talks of the body of Christ.  Like the physical body, the action of every part affects all other parts of the body in general overall health or sickness.

Romans 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

God moves in seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

There can be seasons where if enough of what God wants has not happened in that season, there can be a drastic change.

Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

To Everything There is a Season

With the children on Sundays, through eye-gate, and ear-gate into the city of child-soul (1911) (14782749242)

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:2  … a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Ecclesiastes 3:15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

That which we experience today is a result of our doing or “not” doing in the past, as the case may be. The seeds sown or “not” sown come to fruition.

Many people pray for prosperity, but there are foundational ground rules that must be followed for prosperity in conjunction with prayer.  Where are those principles or ground rules to be found?  In the Bible.

At a certain point if a person wants to make progress, it is necessary to break out of the cycle of unbelief and doubt that keeps them locked in because of questioning  the Bible and the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. A person might say, well, how do I know the Bible is true? How do I know the principles are true?

The One responsible for seeing that Bible got written, the Word made flesh, came to earth, lived, was crucified, died, and was buried, and rose from the dead.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

At some point it becomes necessary to look at facts and accept them.

A good example is the fact that God created only man and woman. “You either get it or you don’t.”

I Corinthians 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

The facts are out there, a Google away.  But the thing is, when a person finds the facts, it is necessary to believe them and act on them. Google hides searches and what comes up in a search today may not come up tomorrow. Save and share things that are important.

When it comes to finances, there is a thought that the only thing that is needed is to pray and that God will answer.  And while it is true that God answers prayer, the Holy Spirit may require something in addition  … tithes, offerings, a seed sown … some act of obedience.  The Lord of the harvest directs the seed that must be sown to have a harvest.

God is interested in souls, in the things of eternity, in the trajectory of lives whether to heaven or hell.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

The first thing to be done with any supply of money  is to tithe and to give offerings to those who are spreading the message of the gospel because there are expenses involved in the gospel being shared.

To put it in today’s terms, the content is free, but the delivery system is not.

Every person with a cell phone understands that.  People are delivered free content every day through phones that can cost $1000 or more.  The content is free.  The delivery system is not.

The things of the kingdom of heaven are no different.  The message is delivered free, but someone pays for the delivery system and the content creation.

If you continually consume free content, just because it is free, and you think you have “beat the system” and figured out how to live without taking any responsibility to give, if you never give back in some way, it will eventually work to your disadvantage.

Proverbs 11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Judges 5:23 Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

I Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Haggai 1:5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

Walk While You Have the Light

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

3:6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

There used to be a more “comfortable” sense that if you didn’t get the information you needed, that you would “catch it next time” or that you could easily find it again when doing a search for it.

Times have changed.

Facts are censored.

Sometimes good information by licensed and degreed professionals is deplatformed.  Sometimes those professionals are put in prison for telling the truth.

Sometimes information no longer comes up in the search engines.

Sometimes information appears once in the search engines, but then you cannot find it again doing a similar search.

If you find something useful, save it.

Don’t assume, don’t presume, that you can easily find it again.

This is a topic with which I’ve had some experience.

A while ago I was doing some writing on a health topic.   I was working with a scientist, using peer-reviewed information.  There was such a stranglehold on information that finally hours and hours of work had to be deleted.  (Later, I jokingly, though actually quite seriously, told someone that I’ve “sworn off” doing any more health writing when I was asked if I write something.  Really, why spend the hours of work to have it deleted?)

Unless you are in the field of writing and editing, you have no idea how much legitimate and factual information is carefully sifted before it is presented to the public.  Sometimes it take years for facts to become common knowledge, not because the facts were not already known, but because the powers-that-be seek to keep those facts suppressed because facts will cut into their bottom of line of money and power if the truth be known.  Or, it might send someone living who was involved in criminal activities to prison so the truth is kept under wraps.

Lies are always profitable for someone.

Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Sometimes facts are woven into entertainment and humor because it is not possible to say things directly.

This is nothing new.  Whole novels have been written;  movies , even cartoons have been presented as entertainment, when in reality they were actually dealing with a “topic” of some kind.  You have to pay attention.  1984 is a good example.

So if you are just popping around the internet looking for the “latest”, maybe just for “fun” or to throw out a comment, and don’t value and appreciate what you find, and take action on it, if it concerns your well-being, whether that well-being is natural or spiritual, well, you should reconsider what you are doing and the opportunities you might be missing or losing by not seriously considering the information you find.  Perhaps only if you are in the field of writing and reporting do you have any clue of how much editing forces seek to sift out real information.

We have been taught that we should spend life being entertained.

Editors have the ability to edit out the life, the life of the truth, the real information that is of value.   It is a brave editor that will permit the truth to be told.

There is a saying that the first casualty of war is the truth.

And we are in a war for true information.  We are in a war for true information about our natural lives.  We are in a war for true information about our spiritual lives, about God and satan, Jesus and redemption, heaven and hell.  We should not take information that we learn lightly.

Listen to it.  Act on it appropriately.

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
