Putting a Lid on Something

Handle Of A Pot Lid

When you put a lid on something it means that you keep it under control.  The meaning can be negative or positive depending on what is being controlled.

If you are putting a lid on unnecessary expenses, that is a good thing.

If you are putting a lid upon an organization so that it cannot improve, that is a bad thing.

You might say that the stolen election of 2020 put a lid on this nation for the worse.

Root-Cause Thinking Reveals That We Are Only as Strong as Our Weakest Link
“For want of a nail, the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the rider was lost.
For want of a rider, the battle was lost.
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.”

The Bible talks of the body of Christ.  Like the physical body, the action of every part affects all other parts of the body in general overall health or sickness.

Romans 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

God moves in seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

There can be seasons where if enough of what God wants has not happened in that season, there can be a drastic change.

Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
