The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan (1826) - Guillaume Bodinier

Most people with even a smattering of Bible knowledge know about the parable of the Good Samaritan or have at least heard the term.  Some hospitals even have statues of the good samaritan.

Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

In this parable there was a decent ending.  The third person, the good samaritan, decided to help out;  the one who was beaten and robbed received mercy at the samaritan’s hands.

But what if there had been another ending?  What if the good samaritan was a “bad” samaritan that day and also walked on and did not bother to help?  What then?

Life is a continual test and we are always challenged in one way or another as to what we will do with what is presented to us.  God watches and we reap what we sow.

Ecclesiastes 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Here is an opportunity to be a good samaritan for the United States, and also for the nation in which you reside which might have similar problems.

The United States, and many sovereign nations, have been beaten and robbed.

You can read, understand, and pass on this information.  You can attend this summit.

I really try to stay out of the second coming prophetic realm because I feel the way it is preached has made a lot of complacent, “why do I care,” “why should I bother,” “why should I fight because I’m going to take flight” attitude.

However in this case, all I will say is that you are still here, on the earth, and what happens on the earth has consequences.  Be careful what you choose because God will let you experience the effects of your choices.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What is iniquity? It is the refusal to submit our wills to our Father which art in heaven.  It is what operated in satan which contributed to his fall from being Lucifer, the light-bearer, to being renamed the serpent, satan, devil, serpent, Beelzebub.  This fallen created being named the serpent showed up in the garden of Eden and tempted Adam and Eve to their fall from their appointed place in God.

[emphasis added below]

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.

19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

22 For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord.

23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of hosts.

24 The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.

27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

This is not a popular viewpoint.  It is more popular to sit back and say that we don’t need to do anything, we don’t need to vote, we don’t need to bother with politics, and that Jesus will take care of everything in the Second Coming.  All I can say is that Jesus is not yet fully here, except in the presence of his people and that his people have been given the power and authority and task to obey him.  And I would conjecture, or strongly believe, that the freemasons and satanists and globalists who want to control things are more than happy for the Christians to sit at home and be complacent because they have been taught well to do that by those that are the propagandists who teach them to sit back and be complacent.

Look at the fruit, look at society, is what the Christian church overall doing working?

The viewpoint below comes from a speaker at a presbyterian denomination.  I don’t get too caught up in the denominations other than see them as different parts of the body of Christ.  But this is one of the few denominations that recognize that the Christian church cannot and should not retreat from society.  Personally, I think the Reformation was a bad idea, and that corrections should have been done in-house, and then there would be greater unity in the church.   But the Reformation happened and we have to deal with things as they are, not as we would wish them to be.

Repost: Francis Schaeffer | A Christian Manifesto | Coral Ridge 1982

There is no place for “the pot to call the kettle black.”  Whatever transgression of one denomination, there can be found a failing in another denomination.  The Protestants were against the Catholics for certain things, but now there is a protestant denomination that says same sex “marriage” is acceptable (which it is not, God created man and woman as the marriage unit).   The point is, the Reformation might as well have been made in “in-house,” as the split did not solve all problems.  It took 1500 years before there was a split in the church becase of “issues.”  It has taken only 500 years for the protestant break-aways to degrade into “issues.”

Regardless of the church’s problems, the fact is, the message that Jesus Christ gave the church to deliver,  the message of Jesus Christ as the only hope of salvation, and redemption, still comes through the imperfect vessel called the church.  That is the hope of the world.

But if the church hopes to continue to preach the gospel, then it needs to re-engage in seeking to keep elections and nations free of satanic, atheistic, globalist overlords who will gladly fill the halls of government if the Christians don’t want to be bothered.

Again, here is the link.

Daniel

Belshazzar’s feast, by Rembrandt

Daniel is one of the prophets of the Old Testament.  He was a teenager at the time of the fall of Jerusalem and concurrent exile to Babylon.  He and others were taken into captivity.  He lived during the same time frame as Jeremiah and Ezekiel.

While there is a certain familiarity of regarding some Biblical events, such as that of David and Goliath, Daniel is not as well known.

Daniel lived and exemplary life.  There is never an incident of Daniel having a faux pas.

Daniel was the one who delivered the interpretation of the “handwriting on the wall”.

It was the queen mother who reminded Belshazzar about Daniel.

Daniel 12:1 (KJV) Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

2 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

6 Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

8 Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

9 Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

10 Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

12 Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

14 I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

15 And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

16 And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

18 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

19 And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

21 And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

24 Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

25 And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.

26 This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

27 Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

28 Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

Modern Day Achan

Achan begraaft de oorlogsbuit in zijn tent De geschiedenis van Jozua (serietitel), RP-P-1904-3366

The New Testament tells us to consider the lessons of the Old Testament as instruction. One of the lessons is that of Achan. A battle had been won and then the next battle which should have been a “slam dunk” was lost. The reason was because Achan had disobeyed God’s orders and taken “stuff” that was off limits.  One man affected a nation.

Who is a modern day Achan?  Jesus overthrew tables of the moneychangers.  While the first coming of Christ was focused on Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, at the end of time, he is portrayed as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He opens the seals in Revelation. The plagues begin.  Judgement falls on a world that has failed to receive Jesus as the Lamb.  Jesus now comes as the Lion.

Historically, during the time of the first coming of Christ, there was a misunderstanding among the people. The zealots expected a fiery king who would destroy the enemy. Instead the Messiah, Jesus, came as a suffering servant.  Jesus came as the sacrificial Lamb.  That season has passed.

You might say that now there is a reverse understanding.  Since people now understand that Jesus came as the suffering Messiah, as the Lamb of God, perhaps there is a thought that judgement to the continued sin and evil in the world will never come.  But voices from many denominations warn that at some point the door of grace will close.

When Jesus revealed himself in the temple, by reading a scripture that could only apply to the Messiah, he stopped at a certain point.

Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

They wanted to kill him for that.

Luke 4:28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

What Jesus read came from a prophecy in Isaiah.   He stopped at the part that was relevant to Jesus’s first coming.  The portion that he read was not the full prophecy. The rest of the prophecy still has to be fulfilled.

This is the rest of it.

Isaiah 61:2b …and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

In Jesus’s second coming, there will be God’s vengence on the enemies of God. When that is over, verse four will come to pass, “And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”

Jesus accomplished his mission as the Lamb of God at the cross.  He is now functioning as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.  In the earth, lions operate differently than lambs. In the book of Revelation, the connection is made between the Lion and the Lamb.

Revelation 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Revelation 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Jesus Did, so we can do

De vijf Wijze en Dwaze Maagden, RP-P-OB-46.198

There is a phrase, “Jesus did it all”. Jesus did do it all in terms of satisfying the demands of God’s justice.  Jesus did what no man could do.  Jesus overcome the sin, sickness, and death that came in at the disobedience and fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

But that does not mean that there is nothing left for man to do.

The first thing unredeemed man has to do is be born again into the kingdom of God.  Then there is more.

Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

II Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Free Will Choice and Consequences

Image credit

Things are ascribed to the will of God that are not God’s doing at all. The verse below indicates that man’s free will choice, or a nation’s free will choice, is pivotal in regards to consequences.

Jeremiah 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

Luke 17:5-10

10 Percent Legacy and Succession Duty Impressed Duty Stamp

Luke 17:5 (KJV) And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

A lot of times the focus is “us” receiving from God.  But God may have some duties he wants us to fulfill first.

Times of Ignorance

Cloth diapers

Amy Selleck, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

God grows people up. God grows nations up. There are certain things that are expected.

Like a child, some things may be overlooked for a while, but then at a certain point the time comes when it is necessary to “clean the room” so to speak. It cannot be put off.

When a toddler goes to school, the child be sent with and extra pair of clothes while going through potty training. It’s acceptable at the pre-K level.

But if the same child is in 5th grade and being sent to school with an extra set of clothing, or diapers, there is a problem.

There are patterns of growing up.

A new employee, still learning the employee manual, may have a bit of grace from the employer while still learning. If the employee has been there 20 years and is still making the same mistakes, that is a problem.

Growth is expected.

The pattern of expecting growth occurs on earth because mankind is made in God’s image. God is orderly. God is a God of growth and pattern. So schools, businesses, and families expect growth and order. Personal development coaches exist because growth and development and expansion is expected. This is because man is created in God’s image and God grows up his children and chastens them when they don’t listen.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

I personally find it a very profitable exercise … often … to find out if things I am experiencing have a relationship to some kind of course correction.

Course corrections used to be called sins of omission … not doing something that should be done, or sins of commission … doing something that should not be done.

Every coach who works with an athelete keeps helping them tweak their game to either shave away a few tenths or hundredths seconds of time, or be able hit better, run longer, stronger, swim farther, or accomplish more whatever the sport.   Professionals, as excellent as they already are, still have coaches.

God likewise directs us to tweak our daily lives.

Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

That is not just the increase of the government and peace over the nations. That is also the increase of the government and peace over our daily lives.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
