Redeeming the Tithe

Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.

31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

The tithe is the Lord’s.  To not give it is called robbery.

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Dodgeball

There is a lot of dodgeball played with the topic of tithing.  Some consider it Old Testament, old covenant, under the law, or no longer applicable.  But Abraham tithed before the law of Moses.

Malachi 3:10 (KJV) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Man has to do his part, which is bring the tithes and offerings first.

God says then he will rebuke the devourer and pour out a blessing.

And this needs to be consistent, not a one-off attempt to toss a tithing lottery ticket at God.  Tithes and offerings need to be an ongoing way of life.

It is a principle in the Word of God that when man acts according to the Word and will of God, there are signs following.

Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

It is thought that because God is God, that he can do anything.  God is God and God can do anything, but God also works according to the principles set out in the Bible.  He does not overrule those principles.  Certain responsibilities are God’s.  Certain responsibilities belong to man.  God will not do man’s job.

For example,

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Mankind must approach God according to the protocols God has set up.  Ask.  Seek.  Knock.  God does not just do things because God knows that things need to be done.  If that were true, there would be no problems in this world.  Man must initiate the asking, the seeking, and the knocking.  And that is just one principle.  That is why ongoing Bible reading, Bible training, regular church attendance, and ongoing study (and application) is necessary.

The reasons there are problems in the world is because:

Psalm 115:16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

Because of the Fall in the garden of Eden, mankind lost authority over the earth.  Sin, sicknes, and death entered what had been a perfect world.  The earth became subject to the god of this world, satan.  Jesus at the cross purchased back the ability for man to again have dominion and to be free to do the will of God, no longer a slave of sin and satan.  But it is not automatic.  The earth is still given to the children of men, Jesus offers authority to those who are born again, but again, mankind must pick up the weapons and tools and use them.  It is not God’s job.

If things are not getting done, it pays to find out why.  And since God has already done all he can do, the fault can only lie with mankind.

Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

If you want to know about anything  you begin to study and then apply.  Then if you want to know more, you study more and apply more.  God and the things of God are not mysterious in the sense of being unattainable.  They operate along the same lines.  How much you put in, how much effort you may to learn, and especially to obey, affects what you  experience.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Spirit of truth must be welcomed, not resisted.  When Stephen was preaching, this happened.

Acts 7:57  Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

People study for all sorts of natural things …  a career, how to fix something around the house, how to use a new appliance.   The things of God require study and effort and application as well.

The world is a free will universe and if we want change, we have to find how to work with God on God’s terms, not ours.

It is the relationship of sonship that God is after and even though God knows all things, God still works with man to grow him up through discipline.  God was not asking the questions because God was ignorant, but because man, the woman, and the serpent had to face what they had done in relationship to the Creator.

Genesis 3:8 (KJV) And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

The purification, the discipline of the Father to mankind, continues today.  It is ongoing, whether it is recognized or not,  or acknowledged or not.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The Effect on the Body

ElishaRaisingShunammitesSon

In the world, there is a thought that “my life is my own, I can do what I want, it doesn’t affect anyone.”  Actually, that is not true.  It’s not that hard for anyone to see that.  Here are a few points:  stolen election through complicity of individuals involved in vote manipulation, Hunter’s laptop, an overdosed-on-drugs person that local fire department has spend time and resources to come rescue, a drunk driver on the road that may endanger others, rioters that break a store window or steal goods and affect the business.

Or, here is a more recent incident.

Individual actions do affect others.  Stolen goods don’t steal themselves.  Windows don’t crack on their own.  Laptops don’t download porn on their own.  Cars don’t drive drunk.  Voting machines that have been properly certified should work properly, but not if there is manipulation or hacking by individuals (which is why all elections should use only security paper, paper ballots …. I mean, hand counting couldn’t possibly take longer than the current records, right? … the upside is that we won’t have to wait until they manipulate and massage the numbers until they get the results they want … funny thing … in everything else technology works at top notch speed except when it comes to counting votes).  AIs are programmed by someone.  Individuals who touch the levers of power illegally affect other individuals and society.  There is not some elusive force like magnetism or gravity causing a voting machine to miscount.  It takes an individual doing some hacking or an individual that programs an AI to do some hacking.

But this post is not as concerned about the world as the effect on the body of Christ.  It is actually about how various members of the body of Christ can affect other members.

I Corinthians 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

If you walk into a church service, over time  you will notice that the Holy Spirit can take a turn of direction for the service.  Sometimes the minister or pastor will even say that.  “I had a sermon prepared, but I am going to preach something else.”  Why does that happen?  Because in that auditorium is the living, breathing body of Christ and there is some member(s) of the body that needs to hear something specific.  Everyone can draw something out of any message, but sometimes there are specific messages for specific members.

If someone would say that it doesn’t matter what another member of the body of Christ does, think of the analogy that Paul uses … the body of Christ.  Think of the physical body.  If there is something going on with a physical body … a cold, a sprain, a stubbed toe, anything … that problem big or small affects the working of the body.  As a matter of fact, the whole body gets involved in restoring the troubled part.

For example, consider heat exhaustion.  When the body is dehydrated, the brain tells the muscles of the body to get to a sink or source of water, and for muscles to work together to bring the water to mouth and drink to restore hydration.  So many parts of the body must work properly for that simple act of drinking water.   What if the muscles don’t want to work and do what they are told to do by the brain?   What if the body refuses to go to the source of water?  In severe cases, it can result in death.

II Kings 4:17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

18 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.

19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.

20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.

In a human body, if nutrition or oxygen is needed, and the blood cells decide to go on strike and not carry nutrition or oxygen to the point of need, again, the body dies, including the blood cells that went on strike.  It is important that the body of Christ function properly, or there is loss overall.

When prayers are prayed, how are they answered?  There are times when God sovereignly moves, such as sending rain for farmers.  But oftentimes on earth there is some connection through which the answer comes.

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

― Teresa of Avila

I Corinthians 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

If the attitude is, “I don’t care,” then the law of sowing and reaping may kick in.  If when a part of the body is called upon to help, and does not, then when that part has a need it might be “at the back of the line”  so to speak.   It’s not God that does that.  It is the law of sowing and reaping.

This scripture works both ways. If you give nothing to the body, if you give zero, if you are totally immersed in yourself, then when you call none will answer.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Proverbs 1:19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Proverbs 11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

A Foundation on the Words of Jesus

Ary Scheffer - The Temptation of Christ (1854)

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

There are those who would say … how do we know the Bible is real?  If  your teacher can teach you something, and then demonstrate it by rising from the dead, do you think you should listen to him?

If there are those who say, how do we know that Jesus rose from the dead?  The historical evidence proves it.

Look, if you live in a society that in spite of biology, that society can’t figure out what a woman is, do you think it has the mental capacity to study the facts related to the resurrection?  You will either have to become mentally alert and aware yourself, or be sucked down the drainhole with the rest of the unbelievers.  At some point, you have to have the courage to say, there are only two sexes, man and woman.  Likewise, you can study the case for the resurrection which has been amply discussed by those who major in the field of apologetics … books, movies, facts have been presented.  Go study it out for yourself.

But again, if people are sucked into believing that there are 57+ varieties of genders, rather than the biological man and women, they probably don’t have the interest to figure out anything else.  For the sake of your eternal salvation, you are at some point going to have to break away and  evaluate facts for yourself.

Jesus said it is the fear of other people’s opinions that keep people from believing.

John 5:44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Years ago, Hans Christian Andersen wrote The Emperor’s New Clothes.  The same phenomena exists today.  The Bible says that there is nothing new under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

The same forces, problems, and potential solutions are recycled generation after generation until someone finally enacts that which works.  Gardening today is basically the same as gardening centuries ago.  2 + 2 still equals 4.  It is only when a progressive, dictatorial government tries to take over that it disrupts the very foundations of all that society has been built upon in order to crash the existing order and bring in a dictatorship.  We see that happening today.

One of the things a dictatorship tries to break down is the structure of the family.  There is a certain amount of pushback against that.  However, there is more distance to go.  Ultimately, the model has to be that which is described in the Bible.  To take part of the Bible and ignore the rest leaves one open to the forces of darkness.

II Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The Bible indicates that we can be servants of something other than God.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The apostle John indicates here there are various aspects to that battle.

I John 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The Destruction of the Family

Moses' basket on the Nile River in The Ten Commandments trailer

In Genesis the purposes of God are introduced and fleshed out through the rest of the Old and New Testament.

The Fall that occurred in the garden is described.   The purpose of God to redeem mankind is introduced.

Genesis 3:9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

The purposes of God regarding the family are introduced.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,

Since God’s purposes involve the family, why is the family under such attack?

What is presented here is not new information.  There are those who have written on these topics in a much more scholarly way, but this is to simplify it, like a shopping list.

There are those who want to be in power.

To be in power, they need to weaken the opposition.

To be in power, they have to offer something to people so people will vote them into power.

They can offer money, OPM (other people’s money).  Politicians get OPM through taxes.

Why would anyone need their money?  If someone is prosperous, why would anyone need anything from the government?

For people to need the money,  a weakened class needs to be created.

What is a weakened class?  Single moms with children and no dad in the home would qualify.

So to create that class within society, the moral fiber of society needs to be broken down.   Images  of the Ten Commandments are taken out of the schools.  Prayer and Bible are taken out of the schools.  The sabbath is no longer respected.  Sports are played in competition to church.  The laws of God are not taught.  The family dissolves.

The state takes care of the women and children through welfare.  The men are left on the outside.

To make sure the men don’t rebel against the system they are drugged, feminized, entertained and pulled out of the loop of society.  Finally, they are castrated through transgenderism.

Having created a weakened female class that looks to politicians for money, and a weakened male class that won’t rise up and break off the chains of this corrupted system, corrupted politicians hope to retain power.

Lately, there has been a certain amount of “revival” of manhood.  Men are going to the gym.  They’re getting buff.  However, this manhood revival is only going so far.  What place is given to these men who are defining manhood as merely becoming more muscular in this secular, post-Christian society?   The state still needs these men to go around and get women pregnant so the women and children will be vassals of the state.   However, the marriage covenant of God does not seemto be encouraged.  It is manhood without virtue, the virtue of the covenant of marriage, the virtue of raising a family in the knowledge of the Lord.

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

To sort of “seal the deal” and make sure that society is trapped into a bondage from which there is no escape,  some extra measures being taken.  Feminize the men but let them into the arena of women so that capable women cannot rise while men steal their prizes in unfair competitions.  That keeps out a certain amount of female leadership.   It puts male transgender voices in the marketplace instead of what would come through accomplished women.   There is no question that throughout history that certain women have been put in place in certain times to accomplish things, Esther being one.

It is also the awareness of women who preserved certain men who were to become leaders.  Moses’s mother is one.  Without her, Moses would have perished.  It was Moses’s mother who created the reed basket that preserved Moses.  The willingness of Mary to go with Joseph to Egypt to protect the Christ child is another.  How many women today would get up in the middle of the night at the behest of their husbands and travel to another country?  The prophet Samuel (who anointed King David) was a product of Hannah’s prayers as her husband was clueless.

I Samuel 1:8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

The greatest tragedy in King David’s life was the breaking of the marriage covenant in a maneuver that involved adultery and murder.  While he was forgiven, there was a heavy price to pay.  Will modern day society pay any less price for similar sins?

2 Samuel 12:1 And the Lord sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:

3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.

4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:

6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

8 And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

You will notice how much the left and the left stream media focuses on “perception.”  It doesn’t mean whatever is being discussed is factual.  The facts can actually be the opposite in reality.  But if your perception can be changed, you will operate on perception and not facts.  The left tries to create the perception (among other perceptions they put forth) that marriage and the family is not needed.  But God created the family.  For solid lives and a solid society, things have to be done God’s way.
